It's time for you to Escape in a new 2014 Escape

There comes that perfect time of year where the summer is turning into the fall and soon after the fall it turns into the winter. What comes with winter? Lots and lots of snow! Especially, here in Salt Lake City, Utah. Here at Larry H. Miller Super Ford Salt Lake, we would like to prepare you for the snow, as it gets closer to coming down each passing day. One of the best ways that you can commute in the snow would be to drive a new 2014 Ford Escape. Here’s what had to say about the 2014 Ford Escape:

“Ford figured out the SUV better than most, first with the mid-size Explorer, later with the compact Escape. Since Dearborn’s boxy baby rolled forth in 2000, more than 2 million have been sold, with only modest design and engineering updates. Last year, when the original platform was on its last legs, the Escape was still America’s most popular SUV, with more than a quarter-million sales. Thanks, incentives.”
So, if that didn’t convince you, we encourage you to contact us and come down to take a test-drive. After taking an Escape for a spin, we’re highly confident that you’ll see what we’re talking about with how awesome driving a new Ford Escape can be.

We started it! LHM Super Ford Ice Bucket Challenge

Wow, August was a busy month for Larry H. Miller Super Ford Salt Lake City. First off, we had been planning all month for a used car tent sale called the LHM 1000. We're sure that you know about this giant tent sale.  What we also had come up was the ALS Ice Bucket challenge that came to our store. We knew that we'd be the first store in the group to start the challenge. So, we did it. Our Internet Sales Manager, David Hazell, volunteered to do the challenge. Since this is a Super Ford store, we knew that we needed to either go big or go home. So, well, we didn't go home and we went big by filling up a F-250 Ford Super Duty with water and twenty pounds of ice! That's how we roll.

When you watch the video, you're witnessing history, because we were the first dealership in the Larry H. Miller Automotive Group to start that challenge. Who did we challenge? Well, we went super high up the chain and challenged the senior Vice President for the Larry H. Miller Automotive Group, John O’Brian. *Side note, John accepted the challenge and then started calling out general managers in the group. So, Larry H. Miller Super Ford Salt Lake City started this all.

Without further adieu, watch the best video of the ice bucket challenge that we could master, below:

Super Ford's Road Trip Maintenance Tips

Summer is in full swing and so are the road trips! With road trips comes a little maintenance to your vehicle to make sure everything is in tip top shape. Taking care of your vehicle should be a top priority to make sure you and your loved ones get to your destination safely. We at Larry H. Miller Super Ford Salt Lake have put together a short checklist of the top "to-do" to get your road trip off to a smooth start.

1. Basic Vehicle Checkup. Call us to schedule an appointment to have a check up done on your vehicle. Be sure to have wipers and fluids checked by the Service Department and get the oil changed if needed. Keeping these basics checked will help your vehicle's reliability on the road.

2. Check your tires. Before you put the rubber to the road, check those tires to make sure they are in driving shape. Do you know what to look for? Inspect the thread to be sure there is enough left on the tire for long periods of travel. See any tears or bulging? Get them changed out at your local dealership. Make sure the air pressure is set to your owner's manual suggestion - too much air and too little air will cause a tougher drive.

3. Emergency Check! Whether you are city driving or heading out to the country, be sure to always plan ahead for any issues that may arise. Some emergency items to make sure are in your vehicle are: water, blankets, jumper cables, flares, snacks, and a flashlight.

The 2014 Wounded Warriors Hi Five Tour at Larry H. Miller Super Ford Salt Lake

***PRESS RELEASE

High Five Tour 2014 Visits Larry H. Miller Super Ford on July 19 to Thank Nation’s Military Families

SALT LAKE CITY (July 15, 2014) – The Wounded Warriors Family Support High Five Tour 2014, which helps raise awareness and support for our nation’s military families, will stop at Larry H. Miller Super Ford in Salt Lake City on July 19 from 5-7 p.m.

“As a Ford dealer, we’re proud to support the High Five Tour for the third year and make a donation towards Wounded Warriors Family Support that will help build smart homes for two deserving veterans, Staff Sergeant Jason Ross, USMC, and Captain Anthony Simone, USAF,” said Tony Schnurr, general manager and partner at Larry H. Miller Super Ford. “We invite the public to join us on July 19 to sign the red, white and blue Mustang and give back what they can to support our nation’s veterans and their families.”

During the High Five Tour, Wounded Warriors Family Support’s red, white and blue 2014 Ford Mustang GT500 is traveling to 65 cities in 48 states on a mission to say “thank you” and show appreciation to our country’s military families for their sacrifices. The public is invited to show their support for military families by visiting Larry H. Miller Super Ford and signing the car with a message to this country’s veterans and their families.

The High Five Tour 2014’s mission is also to raise funds to build “smart homes” for two deserving wounded warriors and their families. Through the tour, Wounded Warriors Family Support has pledged $1 million to build “smart homes” for Staff Sergeant Jason Ross, USMC of San Diego, Calif., who lost both of his legs when he stepped on an improvised explosive device in 2011, and Captain Anthony Simone, USAF of Joliet, Ill., who suffered a severe brain injury and burns after his helicopter was shot down in Afghanistan in 2010. One hundred percent of all funds donated to the High Five Tour will go directly to the construction of the homes. The specially designed homes are custom-built to provide the severely wounded veterans quality of life and independence that otherwise would not be possible.

“The High Five Tour 2014 is about showing our support to military families across the nation,” said Colonel John Folsom, USMCR (Ret.), founder and president of Wounded Warriors Family Support. “Our mission is also to positively affect the lives of two wounded veterans — Staff Sergeant Ross and Captain Simone — who have made tremendous sacrifices in the line of duty. We’re excited to bring the High Five Tour 2014 to Larry H. Miller Super Ford in Salt Lake City.”

For more information on the High Five Tour 2014, including the tour’s schedule and how to donate, visit www.HighFiveTour.com. Summer car care tips

Summer is filled with road trips and enjoying the beautiful weather. Sometimes, it’s easy to forget a few routine items during your summer because you’re out enjoying the fourth of July holiday or something else that might be occupying your time. With that being the case for some of us, we thought it would be best to pass along to you some summer car care tips that you might be able to use. Here are the top ten car care tips from your favorite Ford Dealership in Salt Lake City, Utah, Larry H. Miller Super Ford.

10.check tire pressure
With rising temperatures, it can fluctuate the tire pressure.

9.check oil
With warmer weather, older oil has a hard time keeping engine and other parts cool.

8.De-Winterize your car
Take off snow tires, clean undercarriage and a regular tune up

7.check hoses and belts
Check them for cracks and dried up parts. The winter conditions tend to cause cracks in tubes and belts

6.change air filter
Your filter can get clogged with salt and thick debris.

5.Change windshield Wipers
The summer is known to have big rainstorms, so prepare now

4. Check your brakes
It’s just important to check them often!!!

3. Check coolant and radiator
Check for obvious reasons…It’s summer, got to keep your car cool!

2. Check your battery
The summertime heat can speed up the chemical reaction within the battery, and dramatically shorten its lifespan.

1.maintain your A/C
Keep this working all summer, and you’ll be cool all summer long!

As always, let us help you check all of these items out if we can. Our service department is always ready to help and they’re always a click away to schedule your next service appointment.
