First of all, it's important that you keep a few items in your vehicle in case you need them:

• Ice scrap
• Tire chains
• Small shovel or ice pick
• Water supply
• A flashlight
• Gloves, coats and blankets
• Signal devices, such as a flare

One thing that will make a tremendous impact on your ability to grip the road in slippery conditions is your tires. Snow tires should be applied to your vehicle to help you get the maximum amount of traction. It's also important to keep your tires properly inflated.
